Tacos Clásico Regio

If you're craving authentic Mexican street food in Houston, look no further than Tacos Clásico Regio. Nestled at 714 Freeport St, this hidden gem has become a go-to spot for taco lovers across the city. From the moment you arrive, the mouthwatering aroma of grilled meats welcomes you in like an old friend.

Let’s talk tacos—because that’s where the magic happens. Their Tacos De Bistec are a must-try: tender steak chopped fresh off the grill, layered over soft corn tortillas, topped with onions and cilantro. Every bite hits with bold, savory flavor that keeps you coming back for more. Then there's the Carne De Trompo, the juicy marinated pork that’s perfectly charred from the vertical spit. It’s the kind of taco that doesn’t need much—just a splash of lime and maybe a little salsa to bring it all together.

Feeling indecisive? Go for the Campechana, a delicious combo taco that blends meats like bistec and trompo for the best of both worlds. It’s a local favorite and a great way to sample the diversity of flavors that Tacos Clásico Regio offers.

Beyond the food, the vibe is what really seals the deal. It’s casual, friendly, and always buzzing with energy. Whether you're grabbing a quick lunch or stopping by late for a post-work bite, the staff makes you feel right at home. It’s no wonder this spot has become a staple in the Houston taco scene.

So, if you’re in the 77015 area or just passing through, swing by Tacos Clásico Regio and treat yourself to some real-deal tacos done right.

A coworker recommended this place and it did not disappoint. I got an order of the bistec and another of trompo and both exceeded my expectations. With restaurants being closed I was a little hesitant to go because I assumed the tacos would be put in aluminum. Which, in my opinion takes a lot from a taco by causing it to sweat and no one likes a soggy tortilla. Maybe just me. Everything is packed separate and the tacos on a styrofoam plate wrapped in saran wrap.

Really good but not great. I tried the Trompo and Bistec tacos on corn tortillas. They come with grilled onions, a potato, red salsa, green salsa, and limes on the side. Corn tortillas were not homemade, typical for Houston spots. The beef fajita was pretty good The trompo meat was better. Red salsa was actually better than the green salsa.

This is my favorite taco place, it's super weird for me to like any kind of tacos but the Trompo meat is just delicious and better that other places that I've tried before. The only bad thing about this place this is the service they take forever

Great Trompo Tacos. If you like tacos, and you have never tried Trompo, you should give them a try. Remember, Trompo IS NOT the same as pastor. Trompo is mostly found in the Monterrey area, while Pastor is what you find everywhere else in Mexico. They are both pork, and they look similar, but once you try trompo, you will know the difference in flavor. Bisteck tacos are OK, they are not bad, but definitely Trompo is their sweet spot. Green salsa is really good, but it is really spicy, so be cautios. They only accept cash, so make sure you stop by th ATM, before enjoying some delicious trompo tacos.
